Exploring the Totally Totable Program:

A Resource for Environmental Education

Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District (HSWCD) is introducing an innovative and impactful initiative known as the Totally Totable program. This program is designed to enhance environmental science and natural resource conservation education for students and community groups within Henrico County.

What Are Totally Totables?

Totally Totables are self-contained educational kits that provide hands-on learning experiences about various environmental topics. These capsules are available at no cost to public and private schools, libraries, and community groups such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Henrico County.

Each tote comes with a lesson plan and resources tailored to different grade levels, making it easy for educators to integrate them into their existing curriculum. The totes will cover a wide range of topics, including water conservation, composting, ecosystem building, etc.

How the Program Works

The Totally Totable program operates similarly to a library system. Educators can borrow capsules for up to one week, and for public schools in Henrico County, the totes are conveniently delivered via the county courier system. To ensure availability, educators are encouraged to request capsules at least two weeks in advance and provide multiple date options.

How to Get Involved

To reserve a Conservation Capsule, educators can contact the HSWCD Education & Outreach Specialist, Seth Guy, via email. The program is on a first-come, first-served basis, so early planning is recommended.
